Curzon Hall Yang Taiji Inheritance Celebration

Posted on: 21/06/2023
On June 18, 2023, students and instructors at Pei Lei Wushu Association gathered together at the majestic Curzon Hall with Shifu Alice and Shifu James Fu to celebrate a significant moment in the school’s 30 year history.
It was a celebration of Shifu Alice’s 50 years in martial arts practice and, for the first time and after many years of consideration, Shifu Alice has decided to accept disciples into her Yang Style Taijiquan Lineage. Her first group of disciples, Ben Ng, Sherman Mak, Angela Mak, Mitch Brown and Krista Brennan, have become 6th Generation Yang Taijiquan disciples, to carry on the tradition, knowledge and heritage of this important martial art.
The celebration and ceremony was an event rarely seen in Australia, and a moment that those who witnessed will remember for many years to come. Shifu James Fu was kind enough to travel all the way from China to witness the event and preside over the ceremony. He witnessed and confirmed the connection between the Fu family inheritance and Pei Lei Wushu Association’s new disciples.
In the words of Senior Instructor and long time student Clifford Quan:
“We were privileged to have witnessed an impressive traditional discipleship ceremony at last night’s function. Congratulations to our five distinguished coaches of the Peilei Wushu school, Ben, Sherman, Angela, Mitch and Krista, who are now the first group of disciples of our respectful Shifu Alice Dong on the succession of the Yang tai chi quan lineage (the 6th generation) to ensure continuation of inheritance and promotion of the Yang Taijiquan in Australia. Sifu Fu Qing Quan chaired the ceremony and endorsed the succession of the Yang Taijiquan lineage.”
